Aceh was.... amazing.

Feels kinda surreal to be back. Do I really live this life? Is there really a 'limitless' supply of water? Are those dark patches on the ground really not dung? Is that cold air blowing outta that machine on the wall? Is that me in that full-length mirror?

I didn't know what to expect, but this was reallly the kampong life, and I had the most amazing time. Great team, great people, great experiences, great interviews. Re-building lives takes time and they're still on their way, some of the devastation will always be there I think. But the people are moving on strong and I'm happy for them for that.

Really tired now, I washed my hair once in the past 5 days, had 1.5 showers (since the water and power conked out on me on the first nite), stepped into a big pile of cow dung as well, so I think I'm due for a shower. Back to NZ tmr, really looking forward to it. :) More updates to come... with pictures when I do get them.

I am officially the world's worst best friend. :(
I'm too preoccupied with too many things now and I think my friends can tell.
I wish I could just stop thinking.
I wish I could meet up with more people.

I hate the dentist. Why did I have to have such lousy teeth...
Loose ends need to be tied up...no running away from them.
Funny how things never turn out the way you think they will.

Singapore once again...

It feels really strange to be back this time somehow. I guess it's normal ay, feeling more and more attached to NZ and more far away from here. I still feel a great affinity to this place no doubt, it'll always be home. But everytime I come back I feel my heart increasingly being rooted in NZ, I'm starting to think settling down there eventually might not be so much outta the question. It's just kinda weird always going between one place and another, with diff cultures, people, landscape...

Having said that though, it's good to be back and I can't wait to meet up with all my home-boys and girls over the next few days. Gonna be a crazy 3 weeks here methinks. :D

48 HOURS LURRRRRVE! <3

48 hours is a film competition NZ-wide where you have to script, shoot and edit a short film in 48 hours. Me and my film peeps aka. Team Cineraria took part in this over the weekend and MAN was it crazy and super duper fantabulously awesome! It's gonna be on the big screen tmr nite at the cinema so we're gonna go see that... will be sweet. So here's some pix from the weekend, now you guys get to see what the filming process looks like. Enjoy. :)

Friday, 7.30-ish pm.

So the night starts out discussing script ideas. Tip: big groups of people = no progress. In the end a smaller group had to branch off and write the script. Mega ups to them for coming up with a wicked script!!! :D

When I grow up, I want to be a director...

Who needs coffee when you can have APPLES! By request of Jack Woon (our DOP - director of photography) we had apples for energy. And cookies of course for good measure. :)

As you can see, the lack of sleep (try 5 minutes in the past 2 days?) has made Jack all wired up. (ahahahahahaha)

Sunday, almost 2am: IT'S A WRAP!!!!! :D

It was such a beautiful feeling when AJ said those words, we all got up into a group hug jumping round in circles; I got smushed under AJ's armpit haha.

Ahhhhhh yes so that was my 48 hours weekend. I left at 2+am and came home for some much needed sleep while the others doing editing stayed behind to continue the sleepless mission of putting the film together. Can't imagine how they did it man...AJ got like 4 hours of sleep in 64 hours????? C-R-A-Z-Y!

Our final product titled O.C.Dental Death, is apparently awesome awesome awesome. I haven't seen it yet but will at our film club meeting tmr and I can hardly wait!!!!!!!!!!!! :D Was stupendous fun working with this group of people that I can really call family. Film peeps rock!!! Love love love heehee...:)

I love music... I may not be the best musician around but oh man I just love it so much, playing it, listening to it...

Listening to Tommy Emmanuel now and his stuff is just so beautiful. It's so cool the way music can make you envision certain things in your mind, conjur up emotions, invoke thoughts... I was watching my friend perform on the piano at the engineering cafe the other day and you know the stuff people say about some people having a special touch - he's one of those people. So inspiring. :)

Anyhow sleep calls.
